What skill levels do you cater for?

The Skate Club is open to all levels. For children and young people we run age-based, beginner-friendly courses: Little Rippers (5–8) for brand-new skaters, Shredders (8–12) for beginners and early improvers, and Teens (12–18) for those starting out or building consistency. All sessions are welcoming, paced to the group and focused on steady progress.

Adult group courses are available for complete beginners and those returning to brush up their skateboarding. Friendly coaching, clear steps, zero pressure.

We also offer Progressors (invite only) for skaters ready for more challenge, plus private lessons tailored to individual needs. Click here to learn more about the array of classes we offer.

How long are your lessons?

How long are your lessons?

  • Little Rippers (5–8): 50 minutes
  • Shredders (8–12): 55 minutes
  • Teens (12–18): 1 hour
  • Adults (18+): 1½ hours

We recommend arriving 10 minutes early so we can say hello, get pads on and run a quick warm-up.

Where are the lessons held?

The majority of our lessons, birthday parties, and The Skate Camp will be held at our brand new indoor skate park in Hove. Occasionally we will offer private lessons for individuals and groups at outdoor local skateparks. However our ramps and coaches can come to a location of your choosing. Email info@theskateclub.com to make an enquiry.

Address: The Skate Club, The British Engineerium, The Droveway, Brighton and Hove, Hove BN3 7QA

What happens when it rains?

Most of our lessons are held in the dry warmth of our indoor skatepark so we never have to worry about the Great British Weather raining us off.

However Private lessons can be held at local skateparks. In the case of wet weather, we rearrange our lessons to make sure everyone stays dry and safe.

What is the instructor ratio for your group lessons?

For the term-time group lessons, there will be two coaches present for groups of no more than 12.

For lessons held externally where there are groups of 16 to 24 skaters, we have three instructors on hand.

How do I sign up for skateboarding lessons?

We are so pleased you asked! Please click this link to take you to our booking page where you can choose the course that is right for you!

What happens if my child misses a club class?

Unfortunately, classes are non-refundable. However, if you get in contact we may be able to accommodate you in a different class providing there is space and it won’t disrupt the progression of the other group.

Are parents allowed to stay and watch?

Yes. Parents are welcome to stay for lessons, or drop-and-go once we’ve registered your child. We’re indoors, warm and comfy, with seating for parents, desks if you need to get a few bits done while they skate, and a viewing gallery so you can watch the whole lesson.

For our longer holiday clubs, we encourage parents to make sure their little ones are settled and registered before heading off for the day.

Do you do adult and teen lessons?

Yes absolutely, adult group clubs we offer one-to-one private lessons for teens and adults ranging from beginners to advanced.

Do you offer skateboarding at schools?

Yes, we do! Please email info@theskateclub.com and we can go through how we could set up an after-school club or integrate skateboarding into your curriculum.

What is your typical size for your skateboarding lessons?

Our lessons vary depending on the setting. The Skate Club has no more than 12 skaters in each lesson. We want each student to have the space to learn and get one-to-one attention during the lessons.
