Progressors Skate Club

Ages 5-8 and 8-12

A weekly skateboarding club for children who already have a solid foundation in skateboarding and are ready for more focused coaching.

Progressors gives skaters the opportunity to develop specific tricks, overcome sticking points and discover new ways to progress their skating with the help of our experienced coaches.

We run separate 5 to 8 and 8 to 12 Progressors groups, allowing us to make sessions appropriate for each child’s age as well as their skating ability.

Sessions take place at our indoor skatepark at The Skate Club, The British Engineerium, The Droveway, Brighton and Hove, Hove BN3 7QA.

All equipment is included: Skateboards and full protective equipment are available to borrow.

Quality Coaching: Our experienced coaches are passionate about skateboarding and helping young people progress. Coaching is adapted to each skater so they can work towards the next step in their own skating rather than everyone being expected to learn exactly the same trick.

Safe and Supportive: Skateboarding involves risk, so learning how to manage that risk is an important part of what we teach. Our coaches hold DBS checks, we are fully insured and appropriately trained staff hold first-aid qualifications.

Indoor Skatepark: Sessions take place at our purpose-built indoor skatepark, designed specifically to help people learn and progress. That means reliable sessions throughout the year, whatever the weather.

Free parking is also available on-site.

What happens in a Progressors session?

Progressors combines time to skate independently with focused coaching from our team.

Coaches work with skaters on particular tricks, skills and obstacles, adapting the challenge to suit the individual. This means children can work on their own next step while still skating alongside others at a similar level.

Depending on the group and individual skater, sessions might include:

  • Ollies and variations
  • Shuv-its
  • Rock to fakies and rock ‘n’ rolls
  • Axle stalls
  • Grinds and slides
  • An introduction to kickflips and other flip tricks
  • Dropping off ledges
  • Using kicker ramps, rails and ledges
  • Linking tricks together
  • Building consistency and confidence with existing tricks

Our coaches can also help children who feel stuck on a particular trick, need help understanding what to work on next or simply want some new challenges to keep their skating progressing.

Is Progressors right for my child?

Progressors is designed for skaters who are already comfortable riding their skateboard and using a skatepark and are ready to spend more time developing tricks and more advanced skills.

Children do not need to be able to perform a particular list of tricks before joining. We look at their overall confidence, board control and ability to take part safely in a more progression-focused session.

For this class, feel free to enquire before booking. We’ll help you work out whether Progressors is the right fit and which age group and session would suit your child best.

Let us know if you’ve got any questions and I’ll get back to you.
