Skating, creating and confidence-boosting fun for kids in Brighton, Hove and across Sussex
If you’re looking for something active, creative and genuinely fun for your child to do during the school holidays, this is it.
The Skate Club’s Holiday Skate Club is all about two things. Skating and creating. Kids spend the day building confidence, making friends and trying new things in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
We run mixed-ability sessions, which means complete beginners are just as welcome as confident improvers. Everyone gets stuck in at their own pace, guided by friendly instructors who know how to make kids feel safe and supported.
All our coaches are qualified with Skateboard GB and experienced in working with children of all abilities, including those who are neurodiverse or have SEN.
A typical day at Holiday Skate Club
We start at 9am and finish at 3pm, with an optional late pick-up until 5pm if needed.
After sign-in, we divide the children into two groups. One group heads off for their first skateboarding session, while the other group takes part in one of our creative workshops. Then they swap over, so everyone gets to do both activities before lunch.
Workshops vary throughout the week. Kids might be tie-dying T-shirts, designing mini skate zines, building fingerboard ramps or painting their own street art canvases. It’s all hands-on, low-pressure and great for self-expression.
After a supervised lunch, the kids take part in trick workshops, fun skating games and optional challenges. We round off the day just before 3pm with a mini celebration where we give out awards to the standout skaters and creatives of the day.
What should they bring?
Your child will need a morning snack, packed lunch and a refillable water bottle. We recommend sturdy trainers with flat soles, as well as appropriate clothing for the weather. That means sun cream and hats in the summer, and warm layers in the cooler months. Please don’t pack anything with nuts.
Is it suitable for beginners?
Yes. Lots of kids try skateboarding for the very first time with us. We know how to help them settle in, meet other kids and find their feet on a board. It’s about building confidence, having fun and learning through doing.
Things to consider before booking
Skating is a core part of every day, so your child should be happy to get involved. Participation in the other activities is encouraged too, and we find that once kids get going, they rarely want to stop.
If your child has any allergies, dietary requirements or additional needs, let us know when booking so we can make sure everything’s in place to support them.
Our staff are DBS checked, trained in safeguarding, and first aid certified. We’re also Ofsted registered, which means you can use childcare vouchers or tax-free childcare to pay for your place.
What parents say
“My son and daughter attended the skate camp for the first time. It’s a unique camp with the expertise of the teachers and both my kids learnt so much in one day and adored it. The crafts are a great addition too. My daughter said she loved the challenge and felt great learning a new skill. My son is a convert for life and is even now reading Jack’s book. Thank you for this camp, it builds resilience and self esteem and is a fun active life skill too. Well done to Jack and his team for running such a great camp for kids.” Lucy B
“My son loved the holiday club so much, it’s his favourite holiday club. He now does the after school club and has also requested a skate club birthday party. I still don’t know if he’ll stick with skateboarding or not (he’s only 5) but it’s so nice to find something he enjoys. The coaches make it so fun and are brilliant.” Gemma
’Elisa loves it, learnt very quickly, and felt more confident. Grateful their tutors and they are amazing to teach kids. Thank you very much.” Sophie
