Advanced Skateboarding Coaching
Competitors is a weekly skateboarding club for advanced for skaters who already have a strong range of tricks and want to push their ability further. They don’t have to compete to join.
The group includes skaters who compete at national championship level as well as experienced young skaters who simply want more challenging coaching and the opportunity to skate alongside others at a similar level.
Rather than following a fixed syllabus, coaches work with skaters on the areas that will make the biggest difference to their skating.
Sessions take place at our indoor skatepark at The Skate Club, The British Engineerium, The Droveway, Brighton and Hove, Hove BN3 7QA.

Quality Coaching: Our experienced coaches are passionate about skateboarding and helping young people progress. Coaching is adapted to each skater so they can work towards the next step in their own skating rather than everyone being expected to learn exactly the same trick.
Safe and Supportive: Skateboarding involves risk, so learning how to manage that risk is an important part of what we teach. Our coaches hold DBS checks, we are fully insured and appropriately trained staff hold first-aid qualifications.
Indoor Skatepark: Sessions take place at our purpose-built indoor skatepark, designed specifically to help people learn and progress. That means reliable sessions throughout the year, whatever the weather.
Free parking is also available on-site.
What happens in a Competitors session?
Competitors combines time to skate independently with focused coaching from our team.
Coaches work with skaters on particular tricks, skills and obstacles, adapting the challenge to suit the individual. This means children can work on their own next step while still skating alongside others at a similar level. That could mean:
- Learning and refining advanced tricks
- Taking existing tricks onto bigger obstacles or transitions
- Developing lines and combinations
- Finding new ways to use familiar obstacles
- Working through tricks that have become a sticking point
- Expanding the range of tricks in their skating
- Developing consistency and style
- Preparing competition runs
- Understanding how to improve a competition score
- Building confidence before attempting something more challenging
For skaters who compete, our coaches can help with run planning, trick selection, consistency and identifying where additional points could be gained.
For those who do not compete, the aim is simply to keep progressing, experimenting and discovering what they are capable of on a skateboard.

Is Competitors right for my child?
Competitors is designed for those who are already very competent skateboards and want to spend time developing tricks and advanced skills.
Those attending this class should be able to put together lines of flatground and transisition tricks. They should be comfortable skating in jams and competitions and be looking to become more confident.
For this class, feel free to enquire before booking. Email info@theskateclub.com and we’ll help you work out whether Competitors is the right fit and which age group and session would suit your child best.
